Adductor Stretch

This exercise is an adductor stretch and its aim is to lengthen the soft tissue on the inside of your hips and thighs.

Start by standing with your feet slightly wider than shoulder width apart. Lean your weight onto the opposite leg to the one you want to stretch, by bending your knee and placing your hands on your thigh for support, whilst keeping your other leg straight. To stretch your right leg, lean over to your left side, hold your weight onto your left thigh with a bent left knee, keeping your right leg straight. Lean across as far as you are comfortable until you can feel a stretch on the inside of your thigh. Once you have finished the stretch return back to the start position.

As a rough guide aim to hold the stretch position for at least 1 minute, but follow your rehab programme for the recommended duration, and ideally make sure you are warm before you perform it.
